Genesee County Drain Commissioner Water and Waste Services go live with Continental Utility Solutions, Inc. UMS Utility billing solution to Increase Operational Efficiency, Increase Revenue, and Improve Data Management.
Jonesboro, AR – September 8, 2011 – Continental Utility Solutions, Inc. (CUSI) announced today that Genesee County Drain Commissioner Water and Waste Services (GCDC) went live with the UMS Utility Billing solution. CUSI was selected based on their ability to provide an integrated solution flexible enough to handle GCDC’s unique billing needs while improving operational efficiency and increasing their revenue stream.
Located in Flint, Michigan, GCDC is an operational service company providing utility billing to over 120,000 accounts monthly and operational services to 37 water utilities in and around Flint Michigan. Each utility has their own distinctive rate structure, unique business rules, and manages their collections and payment processing. Hence GCDC has an extensive operation to consistently meet and exceed the needs and expectations of their clients.
Because of changing market demands, GCDC recognized they had exceeded the capability of their current utility billing software. After years of struggling with labor intensive work-arounds and expensive patch solutions, GCDC started a search for a proven utility billing platform to manage their unique service requirements for multiple utilities. What they disccovered was CUSI’s Utility Billing solution UMS. GCDC Division Finance Officer, Michelle Cole, CPA states:
“After dealing with many technical promises that could not be delivered, we needed to move forward with a new solution. CUSI stood out above all the others in several ways. They performed a detailed gap analysis whereby all project expectations were defined up front. CUSI offered a proven solution that we could test prior to implementation, and above all, they provided excellent customer service and a very competitive price” said Cole. She adds “By updating our utility billing software, we not only increase our operational efficiency, but we also ensure that our utilities and their customers are getting the best information available real time.”
Utilizing UMS, GCDC was able to provide each utility with its own set of business rules. Keeping the utilities separate for security and reporting purposes yet maintaining a single database, allows for easy meter reading and billing across multiple utilities. Having the ability to uniquely define and manage each utility will allow GCDC to grow by easily brining on more clients.
“The implementation of 37 utilities went exceptionally smooth because the extreme dedication of GCDC and its utilities. It has been a pleasure to work with such a strong team and we look forward to our continuing success,” said Michael Guerriero, President of CUSI “With the deployment of CUSI’s UMS solutions, GCDC has already been able to streamline processes, increase efficiencies, and provide top level customer service to its utilities and their residents. CUSI continues to expand its customer base by providing the best products and services in the market today. We are proud GCDC has chosen CUSI as its technology solution provider.”
